Thomas V. Lerczak is the author of Side Channels: A Collection of Nature Writing and Memoir, which was published in 2011, and numerous articles that have appeared in publications such as Big Muddy: A Journal of the Mississippi River Valley, SHARK REEF: A Literary Magazine, Sobotka Literary Magazine, Big River, Illinois Heritage, and Illinois Audubon.
Retired since 2018, he has worked as a coat checker, movie theater usher, shoe store shipping/receiving clerk, paper warehouseman, electronic technician, community college instructor, research scientist, and natural resource manager. He lives with his wife Julie in a rural area of west-central Illinois, where he continues to write memoir, creative nonfiction essays, and fiction with the hope of shedding light onto relationships between the natural world and the human condition.
